Frequently Asked Questions

  • You do not need a referral to make an appointment.   Simply call 647-998-5186 or email info@autumnfamilyservices.ca to make an appointment.  A free 15-minute consultation is available to answer questions and determine how Autumn Family Services can help your child.

    We also welcome referrals from family physicians, pediatricians, teachers, speech-language pathologists, occupational therapists, and other healthcare providers.

  • All fees are based on guidelines from the Ontario Psychological Association.  Please call Autumn Family Services for current rates.   Payment is accepted by credit card, e-transfer, or cash after each session. 

  • Psychological services are not covered by OHIP.  Many insurance plans and employment health benefit plans cover services offered by psychologists.

  • We know that choosing the right support for your child is a big decision. Here's our approach to supporting families:

    • Strength-based approach: we don't just look at the challenges your child is facing. We also focus on building their unique strengths and resilience

    • Focused expertise: With advanced clinical training in child development and neurodevelopmental needs, we provide evidence-based care tailored to how young minds grow and learn

    • Family-centered collaboration: we view you and your child as partners. Our goal is to team up with you, provide practical tools and support you and your child.

  • We provide comprehensive psychological services including:

    • Virtual therapy: convenient, online therapy for children and youth, and parent support sessions

    • In-person therapy: face-to-face therapy sessions in a comfortable, supportive environment

    • Psychological / psychoeducational assessment

    • Mental health assessment

  • VIrtual services: online therapy and parent support sessions are available to families living anywhere in Ontario.  

    In-person services: in-person therapy and assessments are offered at our Milton office.

  • Therapy sessions are 50 minutes.  The remaining 10 minutes are for notes and planning.

  • The first appointment is to "get-to-know-you".  We will talk about what is going well and what areas you would like extra support in.  It is also a time for your child to get comfortable with the space, whether we are meeting online or at our Milton office. Together, we will build a plan tailored to your child and answer questions that you have.

  • Autumn Family Services does not provide crisis or emergency services. If you need emergency services, please go to the emergency department of your nearest hospital or call a crisis help line such as Kids Help Phone at 1-800-668-6868, or Youth Crisis Helpline at 9-8-8.
